René’s Results
At 59, post-menopausal, inflamed, and unhappy, I looked in the mirror and saw someone I didn’t recognize. Puffy. Dull. Exhausted.
Then my doctor told me I had Type 2 diabetes. My first thought? But I don’t look like a person with diabetes.
The hell I didn’t.
I had every sign. I just didn’t know what I was looking at.
After a year on Metformin with barely any change, I asked myself the question that changed everything: Is this how I want to look and feel for the rest of my life?
I started digging. Researching. Testing. Trying plans built for women younger than me and still failing — until I finally figured out what midlife women actually need. And it’s not what anyone’s been telling us.
We’ve been eating like we’re still 25. Cutting calories. Skipping meals. Married to the scale. Trying to shrink ourselves with rules that never worked, even back then.
Here’s what actually works now:
More. More protein. More muscle. More sleep. More grace.
Less. Less packaged food. Less chronic stress. Less running on empty.
I lost 11 pounds — but the real win was 4 inches off my waist, my skin glowing again, my hair growing back, and my A1C returning to normal. Without medication.
Not because I found the perfect diet. Because I finally gave my body what it needed.
Sugar Shift 90 is NOT a diet. It’s the eating plan midlife women actually need, built around your hormones, your metabolism, and where you are right now.

René’s Story
In 2021, I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Like many others, I sat across from a physician who prescribed lifelong medication. But I kept thinking: Is this REALLY the only way?
I didn’t want to manage diabetes. I needed to know why a metabolically aware, health-literate person like me could arrive at this diagnosis. And more importantly: Was there a way to reverse it?
That question launched what would become The Sweet Reversal.
Instead of accepting a lifelong pharmacological approach, I turned to the literature, sought out metabolic pioneers like Dr. Jason Fung, and began applying what the data and clinical experience pointed to: Insulin resistance, not glucose levels, was the true enemy. I developed a lifestyle-centered, science-backed approach based on time-restricted eating, targeted nutritional interventions, and behavioral shifts that address the metabolic root, not just the symptoms.
Within months, I saw my A1c normalize. I came off medication. And I knew this wasn’t just my story; it had to become a model for others, too.
So I built The Sweet Reversal to become the place where science, strategy, and hope converge. This is for people who are tired of being told their condition is only “manageable,” when it’s actually reversible.
Our mission is to reverse the trajectory of type 2 diabetes by treating insulin resistance at its core, through education, lifestyle, and metabolic science. We empower individuals to reclaim control over their health using evidence-based, drug-free strategies that restore metabolic integrity.
We envision a world where type 2 diabetes is no longer seen as a chronic, progressive disease—but as a reversible condition rooted in metabolic dysfunction. Through research, community, and clinical application, The Sweet Reversal aims to reshape how diabetes is understood and treated—making metabolic healing accessible, achievable, and lasting for all.

What Our
Clients Say
What has worked for me compared to the MANY programs (WW, JC, Whole30, …) I’ve done in the past is just that. I’m not just someone attending a once a week program or reading a book to follow some recipe but instead I’m a part of a daily community of support and accountability. Our leaders encourage us but also speak the hard truths we need to hear. And when we each share insights, struggles, and wins I feel empowered to do the same. And, I am reminded I am not alone anymore in this journey of freeing myself from sugar addiction. I’m looking forward to being the person I have always been meant to be – healed from the inside out with the help the SS90.
#SugarShift90 is a comprehensive program. It is based on science and built in a way that the information is easily accessible to all. As a physician, I appreciate the wholistic approach that takes nutrition, movement, sleep and stress management into consideration. These are important pillars of lifestyle medicine.
SugarShift90 has been a game changer for me! It taught me how to use food as a tool to reduce and stabilize my blood sugar and reach multiple health goals. Rene’s testimony detailing the steps she took to reverse diabetes is powerful and she uses it to support and encourage others on their health journey. Her most important message? “You can do this!”
What We Believe
1. We focus on lowering insulin, not just blood sugar.
Glucose-lowering drugs can hide the problem, but they don’t fix it. Insulin resistance is the real driver of type 2 diabetes and it can be improved through dietary and lifestyle changes, not just medication.
2. Time-Restricted Eating (TRE) and Intermittent Fasting are core tools.
We honor the body’s natural rhythms by eating within a defined window and allowing long periods of fasting, giving insulin levels time to fall. Fasting is not starvation; it’s healing.
3. Prioritize protein + fiber + healthy fats.
Every meal is a chance to build strength and stability, not trigger a glucose spike. We emphasize high-quality protein, non-starchy vegetables, and healthy fats; a low-carb, insulin-sensitizing foundation.
4. Fruit is not forbidden, but we’re intentional — berries only.
Berries are high in antioxidants and fiber but low in sugar, making them the only fruit we regularly recommend. We avoid high-glycemic fruits that spike insulin and derail progress.
5. Glucose blunting: we pair food with purpose.
By learning how to pair carbs with protein, fat, and fiber, we can blunt post-meal glucose spikes, avoid crashes, and keep insulin low. This is a practical, science-based way to rewire how we eat — not just what we eat.
6. This is about mindset and identity, not just a meal plan.
The way we used to eat in our teens or 20s won’t serve us now. Midlife changes everything — especially for women. We’re here to rewrite the story, together, and build a lifestyle that supports hormonal balance and long-term metabolic health.
